Egg Launch

Our very first Easter as newlyweds we went over to our best friend's apartment. I wasn't expecting it, but they had a dozen eggs for each of us to color. I hadn't colored eggs in years! When we were finished we packed up and went for a hike. We went to a very secluded spot and they pulled out the water balloon launcher. We launched our eggs off of a cliff. It was awesome. We've done it every year ever since with other family and friends. They moved away by the next year so we haven't been able to go with them since. This year they came to visit and were here!! We got all the kids together, and all the adults, and we colored eggs.

This year we did 10 dozen. It sounds like a lot, but it's really not too much once you get up there!

Mason just thought everything we were doing was funny. Mel held him for some of the coloring time so that he could be a part of the fun! (Thanks again, that was very nice of you!)

Jaye (on the right) got tired of using the spoons and went for the 'full hand in the dye' method. After we were finished she couldn't figure out why it wasn't washing off of her hands!

After the coloring we drove and went on a short hike to our favorite launching spot. Spen is so great to haul Mason up the hill! He loved off-roading on the trail!

Ethan was getting the hang of it too! Last year he mostly just wanted to eat the eggs, but this year he was really having a good time.

He even tried to launch them straight up!

A few of the years we have had someone run out to the line of fire. This year was no different. Our friend Bryan (on the right) caught and/or got hit by 1 or 2 and James (on the left) caught 3! One of them was even pretty intact! It was a lot of fun. If you can't tell by the look on their faces it gets pretty serious!

Even Ezra tried it. I put his hands on the handle to pull it back and he thought it was funny! I wish I had pictures and video of Mason launching his eggs. He has the most fun with it. He laughs hysterically!
